Earth Day...Better Late Then Never

Earth Day... When I think of earth day, I think of my grandfather. There was never one more one with the garden, planting and growing things. I never met anyone else so self taught in the ways of growing things. He had a green thumb to say the least. I'm not sure when earth day was created but twenty years ago, in 1988, my grandfather died on april 22nd. Just a day shy of his birthday which was today April 23rd. It was a very sad day for my family, and still today we feel his absence.

His house on monticello had a vast garden, grape vines and tool sheds, today I probably live less than 1 mile from there, and I pass the house now and then...its just not the same...sadly. But I can think of no better way to remember my Grandfather on April 22nd then with Earth Day.
